Sculptural Performative Action

Encuentro is a sculptural performative action in which the artist spends one week inside the gallery, dedicating that time to transforming, through various forms and processes, the equivalent of their own body weight in charcoal.

The action becomes a sustained act of presence and material transformation, in which gesture takes on both a ritual and critical dimension.

The result is an exhibition accompanied by a conceptual map, both functioning as tools for interpretation that reveal charcoal in its historical dimension, as well as in its current symbolic and political significance.
