BIO OIB
Starting from the powerful link between the radical imagination and the geological substances that make up our environment. Yollotl Alvarado offers new questions for a reflection on our present. His work revolves around the idea of landscape as an ideological and social construction. Thanks to his obsession with the relevance of the geological history of planet earth, he opens the possibility of thinking about artistic practice in relation to the ancestral practices of time control (weather). His projects transcend the limits of the metaphorical and the representation, to invite us to a different state of belonging to the world where cultural production and the imagination put into practice become an action in our daily life.
Alvarado's work extends to the fields of cinematography, book publishing and the organization of processes of social Transformation.
His individual and collective work has been exhibited in places such as: "All the world futures" at the 56 Venice Biennale in Italy; " Tu padre no entiende mi leguaje modelno" (Your Father
Doesn´t Understand My Modern Language) at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico; "The eight climate" at the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea; the Milan Film Festival in Italy and the Rotterdam Film Festival in Netherlands; among others.
