CRATER INVERTIDO
COOPERATIVA CRATER INVERTIDO (Mexico City) is a collectively-run space where artistic practice meets communal imagination. Since its inception, the cooperative has nurtured a house, workshop. Autonomous hub in the heart of Mexico City - home to a risograph press, an experimental radio station, and other tools for collective publishing, dialogue, and encounter.
Rooted in self-management and horizontality, Crater Invertido is enriched by a wide constellation of decentralized initiatives related to care, territorial defense, biodiversity, and shared learning. Its practice expands beyond art into the realms of commonality, resistance, and everyday creation.
Over the years, Crater Invertido has contributed to a number of international exhibitions and gatherings, including The Conundrum of Imagination (Vienna, 2017), Gwangju Biennale (2016), Sonsbeek ’16: transACTION (The Netherlands, 2016), the 56th Venice Biennale (2015), and the Jakarta Biennale (2015).
Yollotl Alvarado is a founding member of the cooperative and was an active participant from 2009 to 2022.
